Margaret Murray: Her Life in Pots @ Petrie Museum

The Petrie Museum of Egyptology asked Mirror Mirror to create a new activity for their Festival of Pots in spring 2014.

Taking inspiration from the legend of Margaret Murray  – the first female archaeologist to publicly unwrap a mummy and first female president of the Folklore Society, who lived to 100 years old -  we created an object led story telling workshop, aiming to open up the imagination of the young people involved.

Additional information:

Workshop Type: Families and under tens / timed session / constructivist learning / facilitator led.

Options: Could be drop in, extended or linked to other themes.

Timing: Approx one hour.

Learning Outcomes:

Experiment and explore collaboratively.

Greater awareness of key figures in Egyptology.

Opportunity to exercise imagination through engagement with historical objects.
